The King Fahd Center for Middle East Studies
The King Fahd Center for Middle East Studies is an academic and research unit in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas. An interdisciplinary and interdepartmental area studies center that offers diverse cultural, intellectual, and educational opportunities for the U of A community, the Center promotes research and teaching in interdisciplinary Middle East studies. The Center offers an undergraduate major in Middle East Studies and supports graduate studies in related programs with assistantships, language study, conference travel, and field research grants. Fulbright College Humanities Program
The Humanities Program in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences promotes humanistic scholarship and inquiry, innovative and interdisciplinary teaching, and humanities scholarship to the wider community. The mission of the Humanities Program is threefold: to support and advance cross-disciplinary research and inquiry in the humanities; sponsor special programs that engage the university and wider public in conversation on issues that bring the humanities to bear on salient topics of our times, and to foster a strong role for the humanities in an increasingly global society.
Fulbright College Jewish Studies Program
The Jewish Studies minor introduces students to Jewish history, thought, and lifeways, through the millennia and around the globe. Students take courses introducing them to the basic tenets of Judaism, to fundamentals of Jewish languages (Aramaic, Biblical Hebrew, Modern Hebrew, and Yiddish), and to major strands in European, American, and Middle Eastern Jewish thought. Jewish Studies offers a broad interdisciplinary context of coursework that can complement most programs of study.
University of Arkansas Department of Music
The University of Arkansas Department of Music is housed in the George and Boyce Billingsley Music Building in the heart of the University’s beautiful campus in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Department, accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music since 1951, has been a chartered member of Pi Kappa Lambda since 1984. Home to over 300 music majors and minors and more than 35 graduate students, the department has a faculty of 50 nationally and internationally recognized scholars, pedagogues, and musicians. Our program offers degrees at the bachelor and master levels and offers an intensive one-year performer’s certificate. Through generous support from alumni and friends, the Department of Music became an All-Steinway School in 2010. The University of Arkansas is the third SEC school to gain this distinction and one of only 150 universities worldwide with the honor.
